Just finished a very large and fairly complicated piece. Paying homage to my grandfather and his diligent work ethic and life, I have completed eight sections of art which when assembled becomes a comic strip of sorts. Part fact, part fiction, the work visualizes my favorite time period to draw inspiration from, the twenties and the depressing thirties. My grandfather finished the eighth grade and set off to find his fortune. He worked through some of the most difficult times in America, yet survived. A lesson to all of the soft bed- wetters of today. Fact: He did have to sell at least one case (24) of soap a week during the Depression, to put food on the table, and he considered himself fortunate when he was able to achieve this weekly quota. Fiction: He never worked for HE Bacon Company and he actually never retired...just worked until fate played a better hand. He also had one son, Kenneth Earl, my father, and yes, my grandfather's name was Noble Earl. His father was Pilgrim, a name which will never resurface, yet never will be forgotten. The entire collage ensemble is in the painting section.
Signing out.
